who we are
Dedicated to seeking understanding
The African Philosophy of Education Network (APEN) is an initiative to provide opportunities for critical considerations of some of the significant issues affecting the delivery of relevant education for wellbeing and development in Africa.
APEN was conceived in 2014 aimed at bringing together academics from various disciplines across Africa, and whenever possible to collaborate with international scholars and learned societies to engage in foundational discussions concerning education in Africa.
Through our network we are interested in contributing to sharping African development ideas and policies. From a philosophical perspective we are dedicated to seeking understanding of the pertinent factors impacting on education in Africa .
Our administrative centre is situated in Ghana where a number of our members teach at the University of Ghana. We are also affiliated to the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain (PESGB).
